I’m definitely more comfortable holding a camera than a makeup brush, but my years as a North Carolina wedding photographer have taught me the importance of wedding day makeup. A great makeup artist is invaluable, and can really help me to produce flawless images with less effort, saving precious time on a hectic wedding day.
Since makeup is not my area of expertise, here are three of the most useful tips I’ve gathered a few tips from the experts:
1. Don’t drink the morning of the wedding. It will cause redness in the face and eyes that makeup will not hide.
2. Don’t be afraid to tell your makeup artist what you want! If ever there is a time to speak up, this is it. Be honest about how you feel, do you need lighter shades? Prefer a bolder lip color? It’s your day and the photos will last forever, so don’t be shy!!
3. Hide a tissue or rice paper in your dress in case you need to blot your nose or forehead throughout the day. You will be glad to be shine- free and ready for your close- up.
